I am a retired Indian civil servantt who worked in India’s Ministry of Communications in the Department of Posts. My last position was that of a member of the Postal Services Board which happens to be the apex policy-making body of the Department. After retirement I chose to live in Bhopal – a place naturally very well-endowed with hills, valleys and lakes. The world, however, came to of it as the site of its worst industrial disaster. In 1984 on a December night a lethal gas leaked out of the local Union Carbide Factory crept along the populated valleys killing and maiming thousands

Being  a little more than average socially conscious citizen I have been active in the field of preservation of the local environment. I have also been writing as a citizen journalist in the local, regional, national press as also in online news sites on topical and environmental issues
